Hodson Bay Celtic U12 update 3rd March 2019

The U12 lads played in an entertaining game in tough conditions in Ballinahown against a very good home team.
The weather was atrocious which made for a difficult day to play football, despite this the Hodson Bay lads were first to settle and went ahead courtesy of some great movement and finishing with two well taken goals by Cathal Ferry putting the away side 2-0 up in the opening period.
Ballinahown rallied and scored two excellent goals of their own, meaning a thrilling second half was in store and so it proved to be.
The home team started the half stronger and came close on a number of occasions but were denied by the Hodson Bay goalkeeper Barry Carr who produced some great saves.
Hodson Bay’s defence had to stand solid and they were successful in keeping the score line at 2-2 as both teams chased the lead goal.
The Hodson Bay lads lads eventually nudged ahead when a good move resulted in Patrick Collins scoring with an excellent effort with ten minutes remaining.
Ballinahown to their credit again responded again found the boys defence difficult to breach, with Hodson Bay holding out to win on a 3-2 score line.
This was tough day for free flowing football and both sides deserve great credit for producing such an entertaining encounter in the conditions.
Great game well done to both teams
